Hospital management refutes the allegations It said that the Safe Environ staff is collecting the waste daily VIJAYAWADA: In-charge Municipal Commissioner and Additional Commissioner (Projects) S. V. Giridhar Rao directed the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) health wing officials to serve notices to Vijetha Hospitals located in Suryaraopeta for dumping the used disposal syringes, needles, surgical materials and human organs in corporation’s dumper bins .The hospital management has, however, refuted the charges. Upon noticing that the hospital staff was dumping the bio-medical and hospital waste in the dumper bins on Sunday, Mr. Giridhar Rao directed the health wing officials to take action under Public Health Act for violating the laid down procedures. He also asked them to serve notices to medical shops that were violating the rules. The hospitals should dispose of the bio medical waste through Safe Environ, he said. However, Vijetha Hospitals Director P.M.C. Naidu refuted Mr. Giridhar’s observations. He said that they have a tie up with Safe Environ and were disposing the hospital waste and biomedical waste through it. The hospital was maintaining two bins as per prescribed norms. The Safe Environ staff collected the waste daily for the hospital and dispose it in a safe manner at their yard, he said.
