Boy drowns

A 13-year-old boy drowned in a pond near his residence at Devendernagar Colony in Rajendranagar on Saturday. G. Paramesh was trying to swim in the pond when the incident occurred.

House burgled

Thieves struck at the house of an X-ray technician at Moghalpura on Saturday night and decamped with valuables worth over Rs.6 lakh. Offenders entered the house of Ahmed Bin Abu by breaking open the main door lock and stole gold and silver jewellery, and Rs. 4.2 lakh. The incident came to light when Ahmed returned home on Sunday morning after meeting his relatives in Kalapther.

Killed in accident

A youngster was killed after he was run over by an APSRTC bus at Chintalmet in L. B. Nagar on Sunday. The victim was identified as R. Praveen Kumar (19), a resident of G. J. Colony in L. B. Nagar.

Chloral hydrate seized

The Prohibition and Excise Department on Saturday arrested two persons for allegedly possessing chloral hydrate. Over 1,740 kg chloral hydrate was also seized from the possession of Syed Jamaluddin (66) and his son Syed Hameed (32) of Padmavati Colony in Secunderabad.

Sex racket busted

The city police on Sunday busted two sex rackets with the arrest of nine persons, including two foreign nationals.

Three mobile phones, a car and Rs. 3,000 were also seized from them. The accused were running the business at guesthouses in Banjara Hills and Madhapur, police said.
