‘Withdraw move to remove quota on promotions’

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The AP State Backward Classes Welfare Association sought withdrawal of the move to delete provision for reservations on promotions for BCs from the recently introduced Bill in Parliament. R. Krishnaiah, president, in a statement here on Sunday said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had yielded to the pressure exerted by Union Minister Ramvilas Paswan to drop the provision on quota.

Threatens stir

Threatening to launch a stir, he wanted Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy to intervene and ensure that the provision was retained in the Bill. He called upon BC Members of Parliament to agitate against the move.
