Stone laid for underground drainage works

VIJAYAWADA: Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal laid a foundation stone to commence underground drainage (UGD) works in One Town area here on Sunday. The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) is taking up the UGD work at an estimated cost of Rs. 6.22 crores.

Mr. Rajagopal addressing a gathering said that the corporation would relay the roads after completing the UGD works.

The drinking water supply schemes that were in progress in Quddus Nagar, Prakash Nagar and other areas would be completed very soon, he said.

Mayor Mallika Begum said about 65,000 people would be benefited by the UGD works that were being taken up under JNNURM programme.
