Udaya Bhanu, Suma continue to reign on small screen Out of the Box

Udaya Bhanu and Suma continue to reign as best anchors of Telugu television, the list of awards announced by A.P. Cinegoers’ Association say.

The association which presents annual awards has zeroed on Suma as the best anchor for the year 2006 and Suma for the year 2007.

An exhaustive award list to honour almost 30 individuals and initiatives has been released by the association which include Suresh (Maa Inti Mahalakshmi) and Monica (Radha Madhu) as the best actor and actress for 2006 while for next year, the honours goes to Nanda Kishore (Chi.Lo.Sow.Sravanthi) and Jayalalitha (Ammamma.com).

For a change, the awards for best showing in villainy and comedy go to actress in the list. While Preeti Nigam is best villain for her performance in ‘Chandramukhi’, the best comedian award is to be presented to Ragini for ‘Radha Madhu’. Their outstanding contribution to the television has the seniors, Ranganath and Devdas Kankala being chosen for the Lifetime Achievement Awards for these two years. And S.P.Balasubramanyam is adjudged best playback singer for ‘Sri Bhagavatham’ on ETV for 2007 while the earlier year’s award goes to Nitya Santoshini for ‘Nagastram’, also on ETV. The award presentations for talent covering music to post-production to dubbing and camera work, is scheduled to be held at Hari Hara Kala Bhavan on November 15, the association general secretary B.Kishan informs.

Busy anchors

They perhaps never imagined of getting so busy with work. But anchors these days are truly the busiest lot. They hop from one channel to another and recent addition of new channels has landed the successful ones with more than what they can actually get anchored to. From cookery to beauty to game shows, one finds these bubbly hosts dishing out a wide and varied fare. Such is the frenetic pace of content generation that one anchor says she is working almost 28 to 29 days a month! Surely a major change from a situation where anchors used to wait for days and weeks for a shoot.
