Nepali Congress campaign

Prerana Marasini

KATHMANDU: To regain the party’s popularity, the main opposition party Nepali Congress which ruled the country for more than a decade, has started a national awareness campaign.

Party president and former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala launched the campaign from his hometown Biratnagar.

At a huge rally, he accused Maoist Chairman and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal of “carrying out activities and making remarks that show remnants of a dictatorial king”.

Of late, the NC leader, who was also asked by Mr. Dahal to join the government, has been quite vocal in criticising the Maoists, especially in relation to the activities of the Maoists’ youth wing Young Communist League and the issue of integration of the People’s Liberation Army (the Maoists’ army).
