Risky ride: Poor maintenance of road caused hardship to motorists along Tirupur-Dharapuram highway once skies opened up on Sunday.

Tirupur: Rain lashed many parts of the city on Sunday.

Owing to poor road maintenance, traffic along a stretch of Tirupur- Dharapuram highway, near the South police station, moved at a snail’s pace once the skies opened up.

Potholes

Similarly, motorists found it hard to negotiate the potholes along Tirupur-Palladam road after rainwater stagnated in many places due to clogging of storm water drains.

The disaster management and mitigation department sources said that Coimbatore district received 335.6 mm rain, with an average of 20.98 mm, during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on Sunday.

The rain gauge station at Palladam recorded nil rainfall during the period.
