PR to back separate Telangana

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Praja Rajyam leader Katti Padma Rao has said that his party had decided to support separate Telangana and this would be announced by its president Chiranjeevi during his ensuing tour of the region starting from Sircilla in Karimnagar district.

Mr. Rao, who was addressing a meeting organised here on Sunday by Telangana Intellectuals Forum under the banner of ‘Telangana: social justice’, said he was specifically deputed by the party to give it feedback on the proceedings of the platform. However, the Praja Rajyam would be way ahead of the TDP and other regional parties in supporting a Bill whenever it was introduced in Parliament, he added.

The remarks of Mr. Rao invited angry shouts from the crowd which demanded that Chiranjeevi make a Dalit Chief Minister of Telangana. Congress MP Madhu Yaskhi said the demand for separate Telangana should not be allowed to be diluted raising doubts over social justice in the region.

Goud’s take

NTP president T. Devender Goud said the Congress government and some other parties were trying to divert the attention of people from by making various promises. But the people were not prepared to be misled.
