BJP plea on educational aid

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on Sunday, urged the State government to withdraw its order limiting educational assistance introduced to encourage pupils from backward tribal areas to join primary classes.

Party State president P.K. Krishnadas noted in a statement that 36 tribal communities, which were socially and financially backward, had been receiving Rs.50 for each pupil as incentive.

Now, the Department of Scheduled Tribes Development had issued orders excluding 22 tribal communities, the BJP leader said. — Special Correspondent
