KOZHIKODE: Public Works Minister Mons Joseph has said that the Nandi overbridge will be completed by March 31. The Minister made the statement on Saturday after visiting the bridge on which work was restarted after two years. Only a portion of the overbridge directly above the rail line needs to be completed. The completion of the overbridge would ease the movement of vehicular traffic on the Kozhikode-Kannur route to a great extent. The Roads and Bridges Development Corporation authorities have promised to complete the work in the stipulated timeframe. Mr. Joseph said development works would be taken up on a priority basis. This includes the completion of Ghat Road, the Minister said while inaugurating the Theyyapparakadave bridge in Thiruvambadi constituency here on Saturday. George M. Thomas, MLA, presided over the ceremony. M.P. Veerendrakumar, MP, was the chief guest.The Minister inaugurated the construction work of the Govinda Menon cut-road at Purakkad here. The road will link the Thikkodi-Turayur panchayats along the banks of the Akalapuzha river. The total cost of construction of the road is estimated to be Rs.1.7 crore, of which Rs.1 crore was disbursed from the local MLA fund.
