THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Border Security Force (BSF), logging 197 points, dethroned holder Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and lifted the team championship title as the 57th all-India police aquatics meet concluded at the Water Works swimming pool here on Friday. CRPF with 184 points finished second while Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) came a distant third with 52 points. Among States, Punjab and Maharashtra were tied at the top with 27 points each. The final day’s programme once again saw Arjun Muralidharan continue with his tremendous form and gaining a fifth meet record, as he stroked to the gold medal in the 200m individual medley. The BSF Inspector returned at 2:11.59 to eclipse his own benchmark for the event which stood at 2:14.25. Arjun, who broke five of the six new records to be established in the five-day event, was adjudged as the ‘best swimmer’ of the meet. CRPF took the water polo title defeating BSF 13-9 in the final. The results (all finals): Men: 50m freestyle: 1. Elvis Ali Hazarika (CRPF), 24.71s, 2. Arjun Muralidharan (BSF), 25.24s, 3. Amar Muralidharan (CRPF), 25.40s. 200m backstroke: 1. Arjun Muralidharan (BSF), 2:14.09, 2. Tarun Patra (BSF), 2:25.02, 3. R. Satheesh Kumar (CISF), 2:26.91. 200m individual medley: 1. Arjun Muralidharan (BSF), 2:11.59 (New Meet Record; Old Record – 2:14.25, self, 2007), 2. Deepak Kumar Singh (CRPF), 2:21.75, 3. Rohith Kumar (CRPF), 2:33.41. 4x 100m medley relay: 1. CRPF, 4:12.14, 2. BSF, 4:14.12, 3. CISF, 4:31.09. Diving: Highboard: 1. T. Shiju (CRPF), 278.25 points, 2. Madan S. Javlenkar (CRPF), 263.15, 3. Gopi R. Malpeddi (CISF), 217.85.
