NEW DELHI: India raised with Pakistan the issue of Inter Services Intelligence’s alleged involvement in acts of violence against its personnel and assets, manifest recently in the bombing of its Kabul embassy, during a special meeting of the Joint Anti-Terror Mechanism (JATM) on Friday. The bombing of the Indian Embassy in Kabul led to a close evaluation of the new regime’s capability to control anti-India elements but New Delhi decided to continue the dialogue process and add to the confidence-building measures initiated by the Gen. Pervez Musharraf regime. At the same time, it has consistently drawn attention to the perceived gap between Islamabad’s profession for a non-violent option to mend fences and actual acts of terror whose inspiration was Pakistan. It was in keeping with this strategy that the Foreign Office here chose to focus on evidence pointing to nerve centres of the Kabul bombing to Pakistani territory.
