Ten houses damaged in rain

Water level in rivers being monitored

Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rain caused damage to at least 20 houses in the district. In the city, less than 10 houses sustained minimal damage in the heavy downpour at Thiruvallam, Muttathara and Manacaud. Revenue authorities said the houses were poorly maintained.

A tree collapsed near the Institute of Chest Diseases at Pulayanarkottai. No one was injured in the incident. In Ottoor village in Neyyatinkara taluk, a perimeter wall collapsed damaging a house.

Revenue authorities said they were keeping a close watch on the water level in rivers and canals in the district.

They said most of the rivers and canals were swollen. The district administration was prepared to open relief camps in the event of flooding, Revenue authorities said here.
