VISAKHAPATNAM: Karnataka scored a convincing 73-run win over last year’s winner Andhra to record its third bonus point triumph in the South Zone under-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy at the ACA-VDCA stadium here on Friday. Karnataka was on top of the table with 17 points at the end of the penultimate round. Tamil Nadu, too, won with a bonus point, beating Goa by three wickets at the Ukku stadium. The victory put the team on par with Hyderabad in second place with 12 points. Hyderabad was unlucky to get only two points from its match against Kerala as a wet outfield at the Zinc stadium did not allow any play. Andhra has four points, followed by Kerala (3) and Goa (nil). The final round of matches would be held on Sunday. The scores: Karnataka 209 in 45 overs (K.L. Rahul 50) bt Andhra 136 in 40 overs (A. Mithun four for 29). Karnataka 5 points, Andhra one minus point. Goa 180 for nine in 50 overs (Vaibhav Nayak 54, Madhu Kamat 46) lost to Tamil Nadu 182 for seven in 39.3 overs (Praveen Srivatsan 62). Tamil Nadu 5, Goa one minus pt. Hyderabad vs. Kerala. Match washed out. Two points each. — Special Correspondent
