PATHANAMTHITTA: Transport Minister Mathew T. Thomas inaugurated the public meeting held in connection with the valedictory function of the consecration of St. Jacobite Church at Kavumbhagom, near Thiruvalla, on Friday. The consecration service was blessed by the Patriarch of Antioch and head of Universal Syrian Orthodox Church, Ignatius Zakka-I Iwas on Thursday evening. The Patriarch has elevated the church to the status of cathedral during his visit to the place of worship on Thursday. Jacob Vanchippalam, municipal chairman, handed over the key of houses donated by the Kavumbhagom diocese of the Church to the homeless on the occasion.
