TNCC chief hails arrest

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K.V. Thangkabalu congratulated Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on arresting MDMK general secretary Vaiko and chairman of the party presidium M. Kannappan.

In a statement here on Thursday, Mr. Thangkabalu said there was no place for those who were functioning in a manner prejudicial to the unity of the country. Those who acted against the nation’s integrity were traitors and stern action should be taken against them.

He also demanded action against cine stars who spoke in a similar manner at Rameswaram recently.

Era. Anbarasu, former Congress MP, appealed to the Chief Minister to withdraw the proposed human chain agitation on Friday as some participants might embarrass him by raising slogans in support of the banned LTTE.
