Village headman killed in Doda

Jammu: A village headman was killed and another injured when armed militants resorted to indiscriminate firing at a meeting of panchayat members in Gandoh area of Doda district, the police said on Thursday.

Armed militants barged into the house of one Liaquat Hussain at Haddal village in the district where a local panchayat meeting was in progress on Thursday evening and began firing indiscriminately, he said.

As a result, village headman Mohammad Yusuf was killed on the spot and another person Hashim Din was injured. — PTI
