Indian qualifies for World Championship

CHENNAI: India finished third beating China 3-2 on Wednesday in the Asian boys’ youth volleyball championship held in Sri Lanka and qualified for the World Championship. The scores were 25-21, 21-25, 21-25, 25-18, 15-10.

The third place finish helped India qualify for next year’s World youth championship.

Earlier India went out of reckoning for the top two positions when it lost 2-3 to Iran in the semifinals late on Tuesday night. Iran won 21-25, 25-17, 30-32, 25-18, 15-10.

In the final held later, Iran defeated Japan 25-19, 25-13, 25-17.
