Spoilt: Maternity ward of the Corporation hospital on Kulamangalam Road in Sellur, Madurai, flooded on Wednesday.

MADURAI: Overnight rain in the city led to inundation of several low lying areas and roads on Wednesday. Traffic snarls were witnessed along main thoroughfares. Water from a nearby canal flowed into the 120 Feet Road connecting Mattuthavani integrated bus stand and Alagarkoil Road at three places.

The maternity ward at the corporation hospital on Kulamangalam Road in Sellur wore a deserted look with empty beds as patients were asked to leave the premises flooded with rainwater.

Residents said water from the Sellur tank found its way into the hospital through an inlet.
