PSGR Krishnammal College emerges champion

Coimbatore: PSGR Krishnammal College maintained a clean slate and emerged champion in the Bharathiar University inter-collegiate basketball tournament for women at the Bishop Appasamy College courts here on Wednesday.

Nirmala College second

Nirmala College scored a thrilling 51-50 win over Bharathiar University Physical Education Department in its last league match to take the second spot.

The results:

Semifinal league: PSGR Krishnammal 55 bt Nirmala 45.

Bharathiar University PED 40 bt Emerald Heights (Ooty) 18.

PSGR Krishnammal 44 bt Bharathiar University PED 32.

Nirmala 37 bt Emerald Heights 15.

PSGR Krishnammal 59 bt Emerald Heights 27.

Nirmala 51 bt Bharathiar University PED 50.

Final standings: 1. PSGR Krishnammal, 2. Nirmala, 3. Bharathiar University PED, 4. Emerald Heights.

Easy for Sri Krishna

Sri Krishna College of Arts and Science scored an easy 39-15 win over Nehru Arts College in its opening fixture in the Bharathiar University inter-collegiate handball tournament at the Rathinam College courts on Wednesday.

Other results: Round one: Kongu Arts (Erode) bt CMS College (Cbe) 24-11.

Sree Narayana Guru 7 bt Rathinam 1.

Tamilselvan triumphs

P. Tamilselvan of Sri Kannika Parameshwari School scored four points from five rounds and clinched the category four (X-XII) title in the inter-school chess tournament at the Bharath Vidhya Nikketan MHSS in Pollachi recently.

About 500 students from 20 schools took part in the one-day tournament.

Final standings:

Class IV-V: 1. M. Roshan Prathyag (PKD) 5 pts; 2. N. Naveen (Sri Lathangi Vidhya Mandhir) 3.5; 3. S. Krishna Prasanth (Nachiar MHSS). Class VI-VII: 1. N.N. Nimal (BVM MHSS) 3; 2. G.B. Mukhil (SMS) 2; 3. M. Ajith Ram (Sri Lathangi). Class VIII-IX: 1. Vijay Anandh (PKD) 4; 2. V.G. Aravind (BVM MHSS) 3; Selva Narendran (Sri Lathangi) 2. Class X-XII: 1. P.
