Sree Sankaracharya

A delegation from the University Grants Commission (UGC) will visit Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady, on October 24 to review the performance of the university under the 10th Five Year Plan and to recommend financial assistance under the 11th Plan.

P.T. Chande, Vice-Chancellor of Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, will head the team.

P. Chidambaram, Syndicate member and Director of Planning Department, is heading the various committees formed in the university as part of the visit by the UGC team.

M.G. University

Sargapadham, an inter-collegiate literary event organised by the Sacred Heart College here, began on Tuesday. A symposium on ‘victims of uneven development’ was held as part of the programme. C.R. Neelakantan, social activist, said that development should aim at people across the society. K.M. Roy, senior journalist, moderated the session. Fr. Paulose Kidangen, manager, presided over the programme. Fr. Saviance, principal, and Benny V., general convener, spoke.

M.Sc. programmers

SCMS School of Technology and Management will offer four postgraduate programmes in critical life science areas that include molecular biology and genetic engineering; genomics and proteomics; toxicology and bioinformatics; and tissue engineering. The intake in each M.Sc programme is 30.

Degree holders in any branch of life science are eligible for admission.
