Vijender Singh promoted

KARNAL: Bronze-medal-winning boxer Vijender Singh has been promoted to the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the Haryana Police.

The Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, handed over the promotion letter to the boxer, who is an inspector, at the inauguration of the all-India Police Games (wrestling cluster) at Madhuban on Tuesday.

Mr. Hooda said that a residential plot at Gurgaon would also be given to Vijender. A decision to this effect was taken by the Haryana Cabinet on Tuesday, he said.

The Chief Minister said that under the new sports policy, the State Government would award Rs. 2 crore, Rs. 1 crore and Rs. 50 lakh respectively to the gold, silver and bronze winners of Olympic Games from the State.
