NEW DELHI: Legendary heptathlete Jackie Joyner-Kersee and cricketer Richard Hadlee would be event ambassadors for the Airtel Delhi half marathon to be held here on November 9. Joyner-Kersee, rated among the all-time great heptathletes, retired in the year 2000. She won the Olympic heptathlon gold medals in 1988 and 1992 and also took the 1987 and 1993 World championships titles. She was also the long jump champion in the 1988 Olympics and the 1987 and 1991 World championships. Prominent namesAmong the prominent athletes who are expected to figure in the $210,000 dollars prize money Delhi half marathon are Tanzanian Dickson Marwa Mkami and Tilahun Regassa and Tadesse Tola of Ethiopia. Defending champions, Dieudonne Disi of Rwanda and Deriba Alemu of Ethiopia had already confirmed their participation. So far, 18,341 participants had registered for the half marathon, organizers told a press conference on Tuesday.
