“LoC trade will lead to closer ties”

Nirupama Subramanian

ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) declared Tuesday as the Day of the Commerce Caravan to mark the inauguration of the first trade between the two sides of Kashmir since 1947.

PoK Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, who was at Chakothi to receive the trucks that came in from the Indian side and send off the PoK trucks, expressed the hope that cross-LoC trade would help towards a resolution of the Kashmir problem.

His government declared the day as “Youm-e-Caravan-e-Commerce.”

Mr. Khan said the trade would lead to closer relations between the two sides.

“It is the wish of all people that the situation in Kashmir should be resolved soon,” he said.
