KANNUR: The murder of a Saudi Arabia-based Malayali businessman near Delhi has shocked his relatives and people in his native place near Mahe.

The bereaved family of K.T. Shameer, 39, was shocked by the terrible news that reached them on Monday morning.

The Delhi police had announced that he had been murdered while travelling in a taxi car from the Delhi airport on October 10. Robbery was suspected to be the motive of the murder. His brother, Shaheer, also based in Saudi Arabia, had confirmed the identity of his brother after verifying his photograph.

The body of the victim had been buried in Delhi. Dr. Shaheer had left for Delhi following information from the police in the Capital.

Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala visited the bereaved family in Mahe on Tuesday.

He assured the victim’s father, Abdur Rahman, that he would bring the murder to the attention of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Mr. Chennithala was accompanied by KPCC general secretary M.K. Raghavan and local Congress leader T. Asaf Ali.
