IJP announces names of six candidates

NEW DELHI: Indian Justice Party president Udit Raj on Tuesday announced the names of six candidates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
They are: B. K. Singh (Delhi Cantonment), Prem Chand Prajapati (Uttam Nagar), Ram Kisan (Trinagar), Laxman Tomar (Mustafabad), Haribabu (Gokalpur) and Munna Thekedar (Burari).
Addressing a press conference, Dr. Raj lamented that there was less scope for honest, agenda-based and development-oriented politics. “On an average, the expenditure involved in Assembly elections is between Rs. 25-50 lakh per constituency and the expenses incurred in the Lok Sabha elections go into crores.”
Dr. Raj said terrorism was going to be a major issue in the coming election and demanded a judicial probe into the recent Batla House incident.
Stating that Muslims had not been recruited in the administration and services in proportion to their population, Dr. Raj said two-thirds of the Muslim population was included in the Mandal Commission recommendations but implementation on the ground was lacking.
“We demand that there should be sub-categorisation of the 27 per cent quota so that Muslims can get their share,” he said.
