Sathavahana College advances

VIJAYAWADA: Sathavahana College defeated Duggirala’s KRR & M Degree College 22-18, while Koneru Lakshmaiah College of Engineering scored an 18-16 win over SRR & CVR College to enter the league phase of the Acharya Nagarjuna University inter-collegiate men’s handball tournament here on Monday.

Kandukuru’s TRR Government Degree College and Tenali’s VSR & NVR College outplayed Nagarjunanagar’s ANU College and city’s KBN College respectively to make it to the league phase.

The results: VSR & NVR College bt KBN College 29-6; TRR Govt. Degree College bt ANU College 21-7; KLCE bt SRR &CVR College 18-16; Sathavahana bt KRR & M 22-18.

Selection trials

The trials to select the NTR University Health Sciences women volleyball team will be held at the Siddhartha Medical College grounds on October 24. The selected team will take part in the South Zone inter-university championship to be held at Kannur University from November 11.

The archery trials will be held at the SMC grounds on October 23 and the selected team will take part in the South Zone inter-university championship to be held at Vijayawada from November 1 to 5.

Inter-district wrestling

The two-day Andhra Pradesh senior inter-district wrestling championship for men and women will be held at the Railway Institute premises here on October 31 and November 1, according to Krishna District Amateur Wrestling Association president K. Gangadhara Rao here on Monday.

Competitions will be held in 55, 60, 74, 84, 96 and 120kg weight categories in the men section and 48, 55, 59, 63, 67 and 72kg weight segments for women. — Sports Reporter
