26 children hurt as van overturns
Twenty-six children were injured when a van transporting school students overturned near Sedapatti in the district on Monday.
The police said that the van was carrying 40 children from a school in Usilampatti. At around 5.30 p.m. when it was approaching Allikundam Perumal Temple junction, the vehicle overturned as the driver allegedly went off the road.
While 24 of the injured children were treated at a nearby hospital, two children — Godavari and Ajit — were admitted to Government Rajaji Hospital here.
The Sedapatti police have registered a case.
