Harshit sets new high jump mark

BANGALORE: Bangalore Sports Club’s Harshit S set the lone meet record on the opening day of the three day State junior athletics championship that began at the M.G. Stadium in Tumkur on Monday.

Harshit cleared 1.80 metres to better the previous mark of 1.78 metres.

The results (Winners only): Boys: Under-20: 800m: Chennappa Gowda Patel (Gadag) 2:01.40 secs; 4x400m relay: DYSS, Bangalore 3:34.1 secs. Under-18: 800m: Iftikar Ahmed (DYSS, Bangalore) 2:00.1 secs; Discus throw: Tippanna L.M (SAI, Dharwad) 42.62 mts; Medley relay: DYSS, Bangalore 2:06.6 secs. Under-16: 800m: Naveen C Sathanavar (SS Vidyanagar) 2:05.9 secs; High jump: Harshit S (BSC) 1.80 m (NMR).

Girls: Under-20: 800m: Indira B.E (SAI. Bangalore) 2:26.8 secs; Shot put: Hamsa Rajashekaraiah (Tumkur) 7.66 mts; Long jump: Sneha P (Tumkur) 4.90 m; 100m: Shobha S (DYSS Mysore) 12.5 secs; High jump: Carol R (DK) 1.46 mts; Triple jump: Sneha P (Tumkur) 11.25 mts; Javelin throw: Vaghdevi (DK) 30.55 mts; 4x400m relay: Tumkur 5:04.6 secs.
