Toll plan irks transporters

Bangalore: The Federation of Karnataka State Lorry Owners and Agents Associations on Monday declared that transporters would not pay toll for plying on the Bangalore-Mysore highway and other State highways as proposed by the Government.

In a statement, federation president B.R. Shanmugappa described the proposal to collect toll as anti-people as the Government is already collecting crores of rupees as road tax levied on vehicles. The federation made it clear to the Government that it would have to face the consequences if it decided to collect toll as proposed by Public Works Minister C.M Udasi. — Staff Reporter
