Indefinite fast begins

KRISHNAGIRI: About 20 students of a private paramedical institution in Krishnagiri began their indefinite fast in front of the taluk office complex here on Monday.

The students said that the institution was conducting the courses without proper recognition from the government or the Medical Council of India.

The institution collected Rs. 45,000 as fees for two-year diploma courses for lab technician and Female Nursing Assistant.

But receipt was given only for Rs. 4,600, they said. But, the college officials told The Hindu that they had proper documents regarding recognition. It had tie-up with Bharat Seva Samaj, a National Development Agency from Kerala, which is a 50-year-old institutionconducting various paramedical courses.
