Sathya stars for Wheels India

CHENNAI: Sathya Kumar’s six-wicket haul earned Wheels India a 57-run win in the Lucas TVS-TDCA cricket trophy tournament.

The scores:

Wheels India 187 in 30 overs (S. Rajesh 56, B. Suresh Babu four for 34) bt Schwing Stetter 130 in 22.1 overs (C. Sathya Kumar six for 47).

OCF 181 for seven in 30 overs (C. Karthik 88) tied with Schwing Stetter 181 in 29.4 overs (Y. Raghunath Rao 64).

Delphi TVS 137 for eight in 25 overs (M. Ram Raj 44, Selvaraj five for 18) lost to Velan Exports 141 for eight in 24 overs (S. Vijay 42, J. Manikandan four for 52).

Lucas TVS 144 for nine in 24 overs bt Alkraft 86 in 21.2 overs (B. Karthikeyan four for 16).

India Japan Lighting 120 in 18.4 overs lost to Velan Exports 121 for one in 10.3 overs (C. Selvaraj 50 n.o.).

TNHA elections

An executive meeting presided over by Olympian P. Krishnamurthy on Sunday decided to conduct the elections on November 23 for the Tamil Nadu Hockey Association.

It is claimed that representatives from 19 districts, including the seven members from Chennai, attended the meeting. Secretary K. Jothikumaran said it was resolved to invite an observer from Tamil Nadu Olympic Association and the ad hoc committee, or whichever body is in control of the administration of hockey in the country at that point of time, for the November 23 meeting.

The meeting requested SDAT to conduct the TNHA-SDAT league, and acceded to the request of Tiruvallur District HA to host senior inter-district tournament.
