World Youth championship from today

Vung Tau (Vietnam): The 110-member Indian contingent reached Vung Tau, Vietnam, to take part in the World Youth chess championship which begins here on Monday.

The impressive opening ceremony was attended by the Consul General of India in Vietnam, Dr. Jitendra Nath Misra, and the Secretary of the All India Chess Federation, Mr. D.V. Sundar.

All the medal winners for India in Turkey last year are here — Ivana Furtado, Shalmali Gagare and Prince Bajaj. The 11-round championships end on October 30. — Manuel Aaron
