Do not while away time sitting in Gandhi Bhavan, says PCC chief HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president D. Srinivas has made it clear that the newly-appointed office-bearers of the State unit should not while away their time in Gandhi Bhavan but tour the rural areas. Mr. Srinivas’s advice came at an informal meeting with representatives of the new body, who came to party headquarters on Sunday. The APCC chief said with the elections in the near future, their responsibilities had increased. “It will be futile if you sit in Gandhi Bhavan. Go to the villages and take up programmes and prepare the cadre for polls,” he told them. Allocation of workHe said the office-bearers would be allocated work shortly so that the party programmes were streamlined in a better manner. The meeting was attended by new office-bearers along with Rajya Sabha member K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao. Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha member V. Hanumantha Rao stuck to his earlier remark that injustice was done to seniors in the appointment of the new body. He said there was nothing wrong in including few more deserving leaders, so that they worked hard to ensure party victory. Earlier, addressing the Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Yatra Commemoration Day in Charminar, he said the onus of ensuring the party’s victory in the elections lay with the new office-bearers.
