Srinidhi wins girls’ under-19 title

HYDERABAD: S. Srinidhi of Chennai, with 6.5 points, bagged the title in the girls’ under-19 chess championship in the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan National sports meet, here on Saturday.

Chennai Region bagged the overall championship and Mumbai region was second.

Other results (all girls): U-14: 1. O.T. Mithuna (Bangalore, 6 points), 2. Ch. Meghana (Chennai, 5), 3. Damani Abhay (Jaipur, 5). U-17: 1. Kshitija Singh (Lucknow, 6), 2. Y. Sri Apporva (Hyderabad, 6), 3. Vidushi Patni (Bhopal, 6).

S. Rly. posts win

Southern Railway defeated West Central Railway 1-0 in the league competitions of the all-India RPF hockey championship at the RRC ground, here on Saturday.

Other results: South East Central Railway bt North Eastern Railway 4-1; Northern Railway bt South Eastern Railway 2-1.

Manasi advances

S. Manasi Reddy defeated Saher Hirani 6-2 in the girls’ under-10 pre-quarterfinals of the YMCA mini and sub-junior tennis tournament to commemorate Kargil Victory, here on Saturday.

The results: Girls: U-10: Pre-quarterfinals : S. Manasi Reddy bt Saher Hirani 6-2; S. Nidh bt S. Sowmya 7-5; B. Asha Kiran bt Khushi Golus 6-0; Vidhi Savla bt Mary Peter 6-2.

Easy for St. Andrews

St. Andrews High School beat St. Theresa’s HS 4-0 in the Dr. John de Souza Trophy inter-School football tournament, here on Saturday.

Bhavans score a win

Bhavans School defeated Gymkhana Football Club 3-2 in the Greater Hyderabad football tournament for under-18 boys, organised by the AP Veteran Football Association, here on Saturday.

Other results: Young Sporting Club bt Ved Vihar Club 3-0.

State rifle meet

The Rifle Association of Andhra Pradesh will conduct the State shooting competition at the Gachibowli Shooting Range from October 23 to 25 for sub-juniors, juniors, men and women.

The meet is open for competitors from all districts. This tournament will be treated as a qualifying event for pre-National and National championships. Further details may be obtained from RAAP office, ph: 24756660.
