Sai Kartik wins title

NEW DELHI: Sai Kartik defeated Jeson Patrombon of Philippines 7-6, 6-1 in the boys’ final, in the ITF junior tennis tournament in Colombo on Saturday.

It was the 15-year-old’s the maiden international singles title; he had lost in the final last week.Vaidik Munshaw who had won the singles title last week, partnered Naveen Saai to capture the doubles title this week.

Kanika Vaidya lost the singles final tamely, but joined hands with Natasha Palha to win the doubles title.

The results (all finals): Boys: Sai Kartik bt Jeson Patrombon (Phi) 7-6, 6-1; Doubles: Vaidik Munshaw & Naveen Saai bt Kriangkrai Prajoubphansri & Nuttorn Tanchainant (Tha) 6-4, 6-1.

Girls: Veena Doungkeaw (Tha) bt Kanika Vaidya 6-2, 6-1; Doubles: Kanika Vaidya & Natasha Palha bt Marinel Rudas & Ma Regina Santiago (Phi) 6-4, 6-3.
