Adventure sports to be promoted in Idukki

A Correspondent

KATTAPANA: The State Youth Welfare Board has invited clubs and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) affiliated to the board to participate in projects for promoting adventure sports in Idukki.

The activities include trekking, mountaineering, rafting , rock climbing, tent camping, river-crossing, paragliding, parasailing, wall-climbing and a host of other items recognised by the board.Sherin M.A, Youth Welfare Board district Co-ordinator said on Friday that 165 NGOs and clubs have been affiliated to the board.

The affiliation is given to clubs and NGOs which are registered under the Charitable Societies Act and have been functioning for a minimum of three years.

Though every year, the board invites applications, it is the increasing response from youth clubs that is making it a success.
