Court directive on garbage removal
Kochi: The High Court on Friday directed the Kochi Corporation Secretary to file a statement regarding the measures taken to remove garbage from the city.
Justice S. Siri Jagan ordered that the statement should contain details such as the number of persons deployed to remove garbage from the city roads and the location of dumping grounds. The statement should be filed within two weeks.
The court warned that if the Secretary did not file a statement in time, contempt of court proceedings would be initiated.
The directive came on a petition filed by Shamina Majeed near Pottakuzhi.
She complained that the corporation was dumping garbage on a private land adjoining her property.
