Merchants’ union plea

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The elevated roundabout project at Pachalam, aimed at reducing traffic congestion in Pachalam, Vaduthala and nearby areas must not be dropped, the Ernakulam Merchants’ Union has demanded.

Once commissioned, the roundabout would help people commute without waiting at the railway gates in Pachalam and Vaduthala. A study team from Norway too had supported the proposal, saying that it is the best way to streamline traffic flow in the city’s northern parts.
