Chetan, Aditi in last four
New Delhi: National champion Chetan Anand and Aditi Mutatkar sailed into the semifinals, even as mixed doubles pair of Jwala Gutta and V. Diju crashed out of the Dutch Open badminton tournament in Amsterdam on Friday.
In the women’s singles, Aditi defeated Indonesian Rosaria Yusfin Pungkasari 12-21, 21-13, 21-18 in a 50-minute battle, while sixth-seeded Chetan Anand got the better of 13th-seeded Ari Yuli W. Hartanto of Indonesia 21-8, 21-16 in 29 minutes to stay on course for his third consecutive title.
However, the Diju-Gutta pair hit a low after last week’s high, going down 21-10, 21-15 to Danish pair of Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen in the quaterfinals. — PTI
