Four killed in road accidents

VIZIANAGARAM: Two persons were killed on the spot, including the driver of a APSRTC bus, and 16 passengers were injured, three of them severely, when the bus from Visakhapatnam to Navarangapur in Orissa was hit head-on by a truck bound for Pune at Chelluru village, near here, on NH-43 at around 5.45 a.m. on Friday.
While the bus driver was identified as G. Appa Rao (42) of Pendurthi in Visakhapatnam, the identity of an old man from Orissa was yet to be known, said D. Srihari Raju, Inspector (Rural).
The severely injured persons were admitted to KG Hospital in Visakhapatnam and others in the district headquarters hospital here. Truck driver Jagannadh Gurusurkar escaped with fractured limbs.
In another accident at Rajapulova in Bhogapuram mandal on Thursday evening, B. Subash (28) and B. Atchi Reddy (24) of Kondarajupeta village in Denkada mandal were killed on the spot when a truck hit their two-wheeler from behind. They were on their way to Tagarapuvalasa, according to Sankara Rao, ASI of Bhogapuram police station.
