Token bus strike on October 30
Staff Reporter
KOCHI: The Private Bus Operators’ Association (PBOA) will stage a State-level token strike on October 30 in protest against the government notification not to renew permits to private buses where the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is willing to operate.
Announcing this at a press conference here on Friday, M.B. Satyan, general secretary of the association, said more stringent protest measures, including an indefinite strike, would be resorted to if the government refused to revoke the notification. He said that from November 11, the private bus operators would not pay taxes in protest against the move. A meet under the joint aegis of the Ernakulam District Private Bus Operators’ Association and the Ernakulam District Private Bus Operators’ Organisation (PBOO) would be held on Saturday to present a united front of the bus operators against the move of the government. K. Babu, MLA, would inaugurate the meet to be held at the PBOA office at Palarivattom at 3 p.m.
