HYDERABAD: Mumbai defeated Lucknow 13-11 in a hard fought final of the girls’ handball tournament of the 39th National Kendriya Vidyalaya sports meet here on Friday. For third place Hyderabad beat Jabalpur 6-3. In the semifinals played earlier, Mumbai beat Jabalpur 9-4 and Lucknow beat Hyderabad 10-2. In the boys kho kho final the title went to Bhuvaneswar which defeated host Hyderabad 18-7. For third place Bangalore beat Delhi 15-13. In the semifinals Bhuvaneswar beat Bangalore 10-9 and Hyderabad beat Delhi 5-4. Jaipur defeated Chandigarh 34-19 in kabaddi. Southern Railway winsSouthern Railway defeated Central Railway 2-1 in the All India RPF hockey tournament which began here on Friday. Eleven zonal teams are taking part in the tournament. The meet was inaugurated by S.Z. Samuel, Chief Security Officer, RPF, South Central Railway. In other matches Western Railway defeated host South Central Railway 7-5, Northern beat Eastern 3-0 and South East Central beat Railway Special Protection Force 3-0. Wahab in finalS.A. Wahab defeated K. Srinivas Rao 6-2 in the boys’ under-14 semifinals of the mini and sub-junior tennis tournament organised by YMCA to commemorate the Kargil Victory, on Friday. The results (all semifinals): Boys: U-10: T. Sahith bt A. Rahul 6-4, B. Vaishnav bt Akshad Shyam 6-2. U-12: Srirang Sathyan bt Mohd Taquiuddin 6-4, S.A. Wahab bt B. Vaishnav 7-5. U-14: S.A. Wahab bt K. Srinivas Rao 6-2, P. Sumesh bt C.S. Abhishek 6-3. Bin winSt. Theresa High School thrashed MSB School 5-0 in the Dr. John De’Souza inter-school football tournament here on Friday. A brace came from Srimukha, while Rakesh, Zubair and Mahender scored a goal each. In another match Mukesh’s solitary goal enabled St. Andrew’s beat Zilla Parishad High School, Trimulgherry 1-0. St. Patrick’s subdued Gitanjali School 4-0. Theo, Vijayraj, Vamshi and Nikhil scored. St. Michael’s defeated Pallavi Model School 2-0. Vishnu and Linford were the scorers. Shastri beats BolarumShastri Club beat Bolarum Sporting 7-0 in the inaugural match of the Greater Hyderabad football tournament for boys under-18 organised by the AP Veteran Football Association here on Friday. In other matches S.S. Mursheed Academy beat King Kothi Club 2-0, Deccan Sporting beat Cookie United 4-0 and CCOB beat Saidabad Sporting 2-0.
