HYDERABAD: On the eve of Karva Chauth, Akanksha Ladies Club organised an event at Hotel Quality Inn here on Thursday. More than 50 women participated in the event that had them joining in traditional finery suiting the occasion.

Karva Chauth, which is a prominent occasion for married women in northern parts of the country, has them undertaking a fast praying for the long life of their husbands. Several legends are associated with the fasting which is broken only after seeing the moon in the evening.

“We had the event to pass on the tradition to the younger generation and also to bring the participating women together,” said Sashi Nahata of the club. A series of activities including ‘diya’ arrangements were organised and drew enthusiastic participation.
