VISAKHAPATNAM: A fine all-round show, including a five-wicket haul by Hemal Vatekar, was the highlight of Andhra’s 85-run win over Hyderabad while Sri Lanka ‘A’ beat Karnataka by 86 runs in the quadrangular cricket tournament here on Thursday. Opener Vatekar, who scored 66 (8x4), added 53 for the second wicket with Manoj Sai (27, 1x4, 1x6) in Andhra’s second innings on the third and final day at the Port stadium. Hyderabad’s medium pacer M.P. Arjun bowled well and picked up five wickets. Andhra made 220 and set a target of 226 off 40 overs for Hyderabad in its second innings. Vatekar struck with his off-spin as Hyderabad started its chase. He claimed five wickets and M. Suresh had two to dismiss Hyderabad for 179. The best part of Hyderabad innings was a 69-run stand for the fifth wicket between Ronald Rodrigues (47, 4x4) and Imran (47, 5x4).
The scores: Sri Lanka A 224 and 196 for five in 40 overs (Chamara Silva 41 n.o.) bt Karnataka 175 and 159 for four in 40 overs. Andhra 369 and 220 (H. Vatekar 66, Md. Faiq 40, M.P.
