Vishal Passi to take on Abhishek Alla

KOLKATA: Top seeded Vishal Passi will take on second seeded Abhishek Alla in the boys’ singles final in the Asian under-14 tennis series.

The two managed contrasting wins in the semifinals played here at the BTA Complex on Thursday.

Vishal beat third seeded Shaikh Abdullah in straight sets while Abhishek had to toil hard to get past unseeded Mohammad Azhar in the other match, which went till the decider.

In the girls’ section top seed Amrita Mukherjee found it easy against fourth seeded C. Sai Samitha. Unseeded Simran Kaur Sethi defeated fifth seed Rimpledeep Kaur.

The results (singles): Boys (semifinals): Vishal Passi bt Shaikh Abdullah 7-5, 6-0; Abhishek Alla bt Md. Azhar 2-6, 6-0, 6-1.

Girls: Amrita Mukherjee bt C. Sai Samitha 6-3, 6-4; Simran Kaur Sethi bt Rimpledeep Kaur 6-3, 6-4.
