GUNTUR: Tenali MP Vallabhaneni Balashourie has taken exception to Telugu Desam Party leader Kodela Siva Prasada Rao’s allegations that Congress leaders including the MP were involved in the diversion of the fertilizer stocks. At a press conference here on Thursday, he said that the cases filed by the Vigilance and Marketing Departments on DCMS chairman Gajula Mohan were totally fabricated and Telugu Desam Party leader making comments on such cases and adding his name to the whole issue was unbecoming of a seasoned political leader, who had served as a minister also. It was a wrong assessment as the DCMS chairman or the MP and MLAs were in no way involved in the allotment/sale of fertilizers, hence prima-facie there was no case in that, Mr. Balashourie said. “I have spoken to Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and explained to him the background of the fertilizer stocks found at Tummalacheruvu, which were stocked by local farmers,” the MP said. Let the Vigilance Department come to the village and inquire into the whole incident and they would find out the truth, he said. As against the contention of the department that the godown belonged to Manikantha Fertilizers, it belonged to the Endowments Department, where the farmers had stocked their fertilizer bags, he said. Filing criminal cases by officials against a DCMS chairman was atrocious, the MP said. The former TDP Minister sat on the roads in Narsaraopet to make a show while the Narsaraopet constituency got the highest quantum of fertilizer, the MP said.
