3rd phase of Indiramma Sambaralu launched

VIZIANAGARAM: Minister for Housing Botcha Satyanarayana has asked Indiramma beneficiaries to confront TDP leaders, who come to seek votes in the upcoming elections on the development it made during its nine-year rule. Addressing beneficiaries at Gurla Government Junior College grounds where senior Congress MLA P. Sambasiva Raju launched the third phase of Indiramma Sambaraalu by lighting a lamp on Thursday, Mr. Satyanarayana said the TDP too introduced schemes but only a select few received the benefits.

Giving details of the welfare schemes launched by the ruling party, the Minister said, unfortunately, though there was all round development during the last four-and-a-half years (without naming Mr. Chiranjeevi), leader of the new political party, during his tour, made critical remarks against the government for the backwardness of the district. He said in the first two phases of Indiramma programme about 2 lakh houses were sanctioned and in the third phase 1.11 lakh houses and 63,000 pensions were sanctioned. In the third phase 263 villages were selected.

The Collector said that following new guidelines the government would purchase land where necessary for the benefit of SC/STs and construct houses. Earlier, the beneficiaries took out a rally from Gurla junction to the College grounds. Cultural programmes, bursting of crackers etc added colour to sambaraalu. B. Appala Naidu, Zilla Parishad Chairperson, P. Suryanarayana Raju, DCMS Chairman, and others were present.

VISAKHAPATNAM: During the third phase of Indiramma Sambaralu, launched on Thursday, some 25 lakh houses would be sanctioned to eligible persons. As many as 18 lakh persons would get pensions during the same period, said the Minister for Housing, Botsa Satyanarayana.

It is part of the government’s plan to construct 70 lakh houses and sanction 70 lakh pensions to eligible persons, the Minister added.

Mr. Satyatanarayna and the Minister for Commercial Taxes, Konathala Ramakrishna who was present, would launch Indiramma sambaralu in Uralam (Vizianagaram district) and Chodavaram in Visakhapatnam district respectively. The Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekharas Reddy would participate in the Samabaralu in the two districts, which would continue till the end of this month.

Complaints

Speaking to media persons here, the Minister for Housing referred to the complaints of irregularities in the implementation of housing programme and said that in Bheemili municipality limits where 1,184 houses had been sanctioned, there are more than one hundred complaints. Preliminary enquiries revealed that payments were made to old houses, which had not been completed and other irregularities - Rs.40 lakhs had been misappropriated. Three employees Vijaya Lakshmi (engineer), K.R.K.V. Murthy (non-technical officer) and B.V. Rama Rao (outsourcing inspector) were suspended. Further, criminal proceedings would be launched against them, the Minister said.
