VISAKHAPATNAM: The president of Air Travellers Association (India) D. Varada Reddy welcomed the decision of Spice Jet to reduce airfares ranging from 10 to 12 percent on advance bookings and withdrawal of congestion surcharges of Rs.150 on all sectors. Mr. Varada Reddy wanted other airlines to follow suit since the crude petroleum rates had come down. The Association had been demanding withdrawal of congestion charges since long. He claimed that the proposal for the on-going International Air Show at Hyderabad was made by the ATA at a seminar in Chennai way back 2006 and said he was glad the proposal became a reality. It was an important event and was being conducted for the first time in Andhra Pradesh, but proper publicity for such an event was not given, he said.
