All set for Mill & Monsoon Rally

Coimbatore: The rain has been playing havoc over the last couple of days. But that has not deterred the organisers from staging the once favourite IMG Mill and Monsoon Rally at the Kethanur windmill farms, near here, this weekend.

The event, the fifth leg of the national championship, has attracted 38 drivers from top teams like Red Rooster Racing, Winspeed, Chettinad Sporting, Kari Motor Sports, FRK Racing and Kumci Sport.

With a couple of roads washed away due to a heavy downpour, the organisers were forced to redo the stages. The gravel stages are considered the best on the circuit not only for the drivers but also for the spectators.

Vikram Mathias and Amitrajith Ghosh of Team Red Rooster Racing will battle it out in their Mitsubishi Cedias for the overall championship in the prime category.

Team Winspeed’s Sanket Sanbagh is just four points up against Biju Anthony in the 1600cc class while S. Sujay has a nine-point advantage over K.V. Samarth in the 1400cc category.

A close battle is expected in the most attended class — the Rally Star Cup. Vikram Devadasen heads the table followed by Shailendra Hegde and Den Thimmiah. — Sports Reporter
